New Maps Are Here!

Use this map as a guide to help you find a safe route to school!

Take the 3 Block Challenge, and park at least three blocks from school and walk, bike, skate or scoot the rest of the way. Parking just a few blocks away goes a long way towards reducing traffic and pollution around your school while adding some extra activity to your child’s day. Be part of the solution. We encourage parents to take the 3 Block Challenge by parking and walking 3 blocks to school at least once a week.

Back to School 2016 Updates!

  • News maps are coming! Check back here for updated routes to your school!

  • Mark your calendars! International Walk To School Day is October 5. Join children and families from all over the 50 states and 40+ countries in walking to school! Help curb traffic, pollution, and get some exercise to jump start your day.

  • Take the 3 Block Challenge - park just three blocks from school and walking the rest, which equates to a 10 minute walk. Parking a few blocks away can make a big difference in reducing traffic and pollution around the schools while adding some extra activity to your child's day. Consider this: if every parent who now drives their child(ren) to school committed to the 3 Block Challenge just one day a week, traffic around the school would be reduced by 20% each day.

  • Be on the lookout for new Shoe Tags! Students will be provided a barcoded tag. This tag is anonymous and free and will allow schools to accurately track how many students participating in each event. Like an electronic raffle ticket, the tags can also be used to reward classes for their effort.

Walk to School Wednesdays

Join us each Wednesday at either Olenda & Culver by the paddle tennis courts, or at Telefson Park as we walk to school with Miss Taslimi! We meet at 8:10, gather signs, stamp cards and off we go as a group. You can also meet us along the way. Try it once and you'll be hooked! Parking a few blocks away and walking with us is a great way to celebrate non-motorized transportation and reduce traffic and pollution around our school.

New Safe Routes to School Maps!

Use the map to the right to see how far you are from school and plan your route.  Note the 1/4 mile and 1/5 mile radii. Most people live within walking or biking distance to school, but some live further down Washington. It's easy once you take the first steps. We suggest parking just a few blocks away, like on Huron or at Telefson Park, for instance and walking to school from there. As time goes on and you gain confidence, you'll be able to increase that to 5 blocks, and from there, the sky's the limit!

Join us on International Walk to School Day, October 8, 2014

As part of the Culver City Safe Routes to School Program, The Culver City Walk & Rollers invites you to participate in International Walk to School Day on October 8. Join thousands of schools and millions of children around the world in a celebration of active transportation. Walking and biking to school helps kids be more active while reducing traffic and pollution around our school, and we invite you to walk, bike, skate or scoot to school with us on October 8 and consider making this a regular part of your day.

Walking and biking to school does not mean door-door or even every day. Every day and each block not driven really does make a difference. Walking to school is easier than you think.

Use the map below to determine how far you live from school and use the following tips on how to help make the program successful.

  • Be sure to discuss this with your child(ren). Let them know they will be doing their part to help creater a safer, cleaner neighborhood.
  • Take advantage of Walk to School Day and discuss safety tips with your child(ren), like stopping at curbs, making eye contact with drivers and looking left, right and left again before crossing.
  • If you do drive, please park 5 blocks away and walk the rest with your child(ren).
  • And if for any reason you must drive all the way to school, please keep in mind that more children will be walking to and around the school site, so please be sure to drive more carefully and obey all traffic laws.
  • We ask that you stop at all stop signs and crosswalks, yield to children crossing, avoid double parking, dropping children off in traffic lanes and making u-turns in front of the school.
